Mattie Gayle's 1st Birthday

All I know to say about this session is that life situations are RARELY as picturesque as the photos we post from them. I was determined to get some good pictures of Mattie Gayle to put out at her 1st birthday part, so the girls and I hiked down Odom Boulevard (one of the busier streets in Maumelle) by ourselves in the blazing heat. I was carrying Mattie Gayle, 3 water bottles, 2 rocking chairs, and my camera all while trying to convince Annie to stay RIGHT BESIDE ME. It wasn't my smartest choice — I have a history of underestimating the stress of being right beside traffic, right mom? I should have waited for another grown-up to go with us. But alas, we have the pictures, and I'm still sporting bruises from the rocking chairs hitting my shins the whole walk and sores from ant bites on my feet while taking the pictures.

Last summer, I got away for a few minutes and went to one of my favorite children's boutique here in town to shop their sale. I'm a big fan of buying clothes for the girls second-hand, but I can't help but see if there is something cute enough and discounted enough to go ahead and get new from time to time! I happened to find these two white dresses for the girls, and even though it was a year away, I had a sister photoshoot in mind for Mattie Gayle's birthday! I couldn't have been more pleased with how their dresses looked together, and Annie didn't want to take hers off!

I plan to have them wear them again in some pictures with Chuck and me...in a little more pleasant setting! :)

**I promise that I will never put you in such a stupid and miserable situation. It is ALWAYS my goal to set you up for success and help you enjoy your photo session...but sometimes when you want the pictures, you do what you gotta do. :)
