I've known Haley as long as I can remember. She and I grew up at church together, and we were at OBU for a few years together as students and when I was on staff. She has one of the most genuine and kind hearts of anyone I've ever known. Very few people love The Sound of Music quite like both Haley and I do, and I love that about her. One of my favorite memories with her happened last summer as we conspired together to surprise a friend with a fun birthday experience. We had a great time keeping the secret and making it happen together!
She and Barry just welcomed baby Layne Katherine to their family this week, and I was so honored to get to take some pictures of just the three of them before they checked out of the hospital to join big brother, Hayes, at home. I LOVE stories of how parents choose names, especially when names have a family story. "Katherine" is in honor of Haley's mom and sister, who both bear the name, and they are two great women who will help pass along a beautiful legacy to Layne of gentleness and loving-kindness.
When I first got to the hospital room, the nurses had taken Layne for her 24-hour testing, so Haley and Barry were anxiously awaiting their baby girl to be back with them. When the nurse brought Layne back, it was so sweet to see her parents light up with smiles to be reunited. And sister was so awake too! She is beautiful — a perfect, sweet baby girl! Thank you so much for letting me photograph your precious little one!
